Both payloads landed around 1pm at the very edge of the St. Lawrence river. The St. John's payload was recovered by chase teams. LASA-4 was observed landing in the water by a cottager who recovered it from his dock when were were only minutes away. Here are some early pictures from the mission. More details to come! LASA will be arranging two balloon launches on May 9th. The launches will be between 9am and 10am at the Crystal Palace in downtown Perth Ontario. Incidentally, this will be the first day of the Perth Farmer's Market at the same location. The first launch will be of a mission prepared by students at St. John's Elementary School containing GPS and temperature tracking equipment, a camera and artwork. The project was planned and constructed by students with the help of some dedicated LASA members. The second launch will be of LASA's next mission (LASA-4) attempting an altitude world record. The last mission in November reached #2 in the books, and this time LASA's strategy is to use the same large balloon as last time, together with a minimalist payload containing only GPS tracking equipment in a very small lightweight package. On launch day, you can tune into the progress of both missions on the internet and watch their progress on a live map.

An excellent mission where almost everything went right! The prep, launch event, flight and chase could not have gone much better, especially given the weather.
